Hong Kong upgrades 15 countries to ‘high risk’ Covid status

Hong Kong’s government has upgraded 15 countries, including the US, France and Spain, to its ‘high risk’ category, meaning international arrivals from those countries will face extended quarantine.

Officials said arrivals from Bangladesh, Cambodia, France, Greece, Iran, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, the UAE and the US would face the new restrictions from 20 August.

Australia will be reclassified as ‘medium risk’ from ‘low risk’ from the same date.

Countries including Brazil, India, and the United Kingdom are already been classified as ‘high risk’.
