It’s unknown if the light had anything to do with the Red Sox’s struggles at the dish, but Boston couldn’t get much of anything going at the plate. Despite hitting several grand slams in just under two full games just a few short nights ago, Boston has shockingly come crashing back down to Earth, to the tune of no runs through the first six innings of action on Wednesday night’s Game 5.
Cora believes the Red Sox were distracted against Houston in Game 5, thanks to some of their own supporters at Fenway Park. A small fan-operated light in center field appeared in the batters’ eye in the early and middle innings.

Despite an excellent start from Chris Sale — in which he threw five innings of shutout ball — the Red Sox fell flat on their face come the top of the sixth inning thanks to a dominant performance at the dish by Yordan Alvarez.
Framber Valdez also shut out the Red Sox on the mound. The young Astros pitcher was perfect through four innings, and saved Dusty Baker plenty of bullpen ammo for Games 6 and 7 as they return home to Houston.
