The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth football community is mourning the tragic loss of freshman Marvins Antoine, who was killed in a stabbing early Saturday morning in Providence, Rhode Island.
According to Providence police, officers responded to a reported stabbing around 12:30 a.m. in the parking lot of a Wendy’s on Charles Street. The incident followed an altercation at the nearby Mezza Lounge involving members of the UMass Dartmouth football team.
Antoine, 18, suffered stab wounds to the chest and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Antoine was a first-year member of the UMass Dartmouth football team. The freshman running back was from Boston and attended B.M.C. Durfee High School in Fall
