STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State will have to wait one more week to begin its football season.

The Cowboys’ game with Tulsa at Boone Pickens Stadium has been postponed a week to Saturday, Sept. 19, due to the Golden Hurricane’s preseason camp begin limited due to COVID-19 protocols.

“The safety and health of our student-athletes is always at the core of all of our discussions and decisions,” Tulsa vice president and athletic director Derrick Gragg said in a release. “Without time to properly prepare physically we would be putting our student-athletes at a greater risk of injury.

“An open date for both schools presented us with the opportunity to reschedule the game for a week later. I’m appreciative of Mike Holder and Oklahoma State University for their cooperation in coming to this decision.”

Tulsa had a nine-day pause that began Aug. 17 due to multiple positive coronavirus tests. As a result, it practiced just seven times in 17 days of preseason camp.

Kickoff and television details will be announced at a later date.
